This is a first. We have deviated from the plan. We left Southwaite Green a day early to go to a new place still in the Lake District -- in Armathwaite. As best we can tell `'waite`' means water. As Kathy said "I've booked us in a place that is inaccessible." She is almost right.
Armathwaite is a town of a very small population, 2 inns with pubs, a general store/post office, and a church. It is on the Eden River (thus the waite).
We arrive and check in at the Fox and Pheasant Inn -- a nice place.
Kathy likes strong doors.
Dogs are a favourite.
Note the 2 candelabras. In the old days they played by candle light.
A nice dining area.
And, most importantly, a comfortable couch with wifi for blogging.
Well, we blogged so long that the pub stopped serving food. The bartender took pity on us and hustled up a couple of ham and cheese sandwiches which were great.
Meanwhile, back in London, McKenzie graduates -- WAY TO GO!!
It has been rainy all day -- unusual for our trip -- not unusual for England.
The Eden River...
We are off on a walk of Armathwaite. Takes about 5 minutes if you take a few side trips and stop at the only store.
Eggs here are NOT refrigerated.....ever!!!
Wishin' we had more room to bring these home to our birds!
But a very nice little town.
We have dinner at the Fox and Pheasant -- lamb and veggies.
Off to bed for another very nice day in England. Thanks for reading.
