Lake Tekapo to Queenstown, Thursday, February 28, 2013

Don't know the name of this lake....not sure you care anyway....actually, not sure we could pronounce it nor remember it either!  Every 5 - 10 miles, we stop to view a gorgeous lake....and then each lake continues in our view for another 5 - 10 miles....no exaggeration.  Simply stunning!

These are bales of hay, wrapped in plastic. Why in the world would I take a picture of THIS???  Cause Tom has a very interesting fact about this....the hay is so wrapped to compost the hay, thus reducing the cellulose in the grasses.  Normally, the cow's first stomach performs this process....(are you still with me?)  In this manner, the meat and the milk are more efficiently produced!   Tom is not quite certain where he learned this pearl of wisdom.....but we are sharing it with you nonetheless!!

On occasion, VERY rarely, our drive is BORING....kinda like driving in parts of the western U.S.....the difference is:  the NZ boring is an hour or so.....the U.S. boring can be DAYS!!!!

And before you know it......ANOTHER LAKE!!!!  We are noting that New Zealand is not all that different from the U.S......in fact, they are YOUNGER!!!

One had to walk across this suspension bridge to get to the restaurant on the other side....we were starving......NO WAY!!

Roaring Meg is part of the New Zealand power grid.....beautiful AND powerful....natives have told us the South Island's hydroelectricity provides most of the power for the entire nation.

Blanche waits patiently for us time and time again....

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING?!  We have seen signs for school buses, school children crossing, children playing, work in progress, caution, one lane bridges.....how would you define this sign?  Watch for drunks???  Watch for grown-ups???  Watch for adults playing???

A unique way of announcing that we have just entered a wine valley...

And sometimes Blanche AND Tom wait patiently....had to walk back 1/4 mile to get the "CAUTION" picture!

A delightful approach to Queenstown, on yet another beautiful day and another excellent lunch.
