Monday, July 7, 2014, Edinburgh, Scotland

Monday will be a short read.  We spent the morning blogging, learning how to operate the appliances, operating the appliances, and otherwise taking it easy.  According to Carol, The Butterfly House owner's mother, the espresso machine causes more questions than all the other appliances.  We understand why.  It took an hour and a half of studying the user's instructions written originally in Italian by Italians and poorly translated to English to make our first attempt to make espresso.  It is an excellent machine that, eventually, makes excellent espresso.

Note instruction no. 5, that gives recommendation of how to spend your waiting time.

YES!!!!

On to the clothes washing machine.

It has been a while since the last laundry.

The clothes drier did not require written instructions.

After chores time and hours of blogging, it is time for a walk and dinner.  It was a nice walk along the river to Bond No. 9.  This restaurant was awarded the bronze medal in the 2012 Gastropub of the Year Award.  First a little about the name.  Bond is what the former warehouses along the waterfront were called.  Bond No. 9 was a whisky bond.  The building we are staying in was a general freight bond.  The building next door was a sugar bond.  All were converted warehouses.

We ate alfresco and had a great meal with excellent ale and wine.

A quick walk back to The Butterfly House, a little World Cup, and bed.  Another good day.
